How Does Your Design Process Work?

The graphic design process includes the steps followed from the beginning to the end of a design project. Here is a short article that gives information about how the graphic design process works in general:

  1. Briefing: The first step is to set design needs, goals and expectations in a meeting with the client or project owner. At this stage, factors such as the purpose of the design, target audience, brand identity, communication requirements and time frame of the project are discussed.

  2. Research and Conception: At this stage of the design process, research is done to learn more about the project. Brand or topic-related marketing trends, competitors, target audience and visual references are examined. This information assists in the creation of design concepts.

  3. Design Development: The first examples of the design are created by using the information obtained from the research and concept creation phase. At this stage, the color palette, typography, images, layout and other design elements are determined. Different design alternatives can be tried and internal or external customer feedback can be obtained to choose the most suitable one.

  4. Prototyping: A digital or printed prototype of the design is created. This prototype shows what the design looks like in its true dimensions and functionality. The prototype is used for feedback and revision process with the client or project team.

  5. Revision and Improvement: After the prototype is submitted, feedback is received from the customer or the project team. In line with these feedbacks, necessary changes are made in the design. Improvements and revisions are made to bring the design closer to the desired result.

  6. Approval and Production Preparation: After final revisions of the design are completed, approval is obtained from the customer. The approved design is converted to the required file formats before proceeding to the production phase. At this stage, the requirements for which the design will be used in print or digital media are considered.

  7. Delivery and Follow-up: Finally, the design is delivered to the customer and ends with the completion of the project.

How Long Does Ä°t Take For a Project to Complete?

The completion time for an average graphic design project can vary depending on several factors. Factors such as the complexity of the job, the scope of the design, the speed of customer feedback and project priorities can affect the duration. However, in general, a process including the following steps is followed:

  1. Briefing: The first step is to meet with the client and understand the needs and expectations of the project. At this stage, details such as the goals of the project, target audience, content and delivery dates are determined. The briefing process can usually take a few hours or a few days, depending on the complexity of the project.
